Sustainability Loan- Primary Producer
Sustainability Loans provide you with finance up to $1,300,000 to assist in achieving a more productive and sustainable primary production enterprise.
Improving enterprise efficiencies
Make your land work better for you by building fences, dams, storage facilities, improving irrigation, or establishing additional water points.
Implement on-farm value adding or supply chain initiatives to ensure your enterprise continues to be successful for years to come.
Upgrading or diversifying operations
Upgrade operations to improve productivity – buy or replace plant or machinery as part of your farm business planning, or diversify your operations.
If you would like to purchase livestock or machinery, QRIDA can lend for these purchases. You can also expand your enterprise in stages to best meet your cashflow.
Achieve long-term sustainability
Purchase equipment to meet environmental requirements, or drought/flood ‘proof’ your property. Implement sustainable resource management practices, including alternative energy systems to achieve long-term sustainability.
Joint lending with your bank
QRIDA will consider joint lending options with your bank or other commercial lenders. If you require more than $1.3 million or partial funding from QRIDA for a specific project or activity, please discuss your options with us.

A drought loan is designed to prepare for drought by managing or recovering from the effects of drought.

To apply for this loan you must have a drought management plan and we can assist you with this. With this loan you can access up to $2,000,000 for a term of 10 years (terms and conditions apply).

Drought Relief Assistance Scheme
The Drought Relief Assistance Scheme (DRAS) is offered by the Queensland Government and administered by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF).
The purpose of the scheme is to help primary producers with drought-declared properties to:
- manage the welfare of their core breeding herd during drought.
- restore their herds after drought.
Producers with a property that is currently drought declared may be eligible for:
- freight subsidies for transporting fodder.
- freight subsidies for transporting water.
- the Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate (EWIR), which provides a rebate on the purchase and installation of water infrastructure installed for emergency animal welfare needs.
If you reach the $20,000 limit for your property, you can apply to extend the limit up to $50,000 depending on the length of time your property has been in drought. To do this, you will need a drought management plan (DMP) for your property and have it endorsed by a DAF officer. We can help you with a drought management plan. Once your DMP is endorsed, the applicable ceiling applies to the entire current financial year and later financial years.

Primary Producer Consession- Queensland Transport
This concession is available if you are involved mainly in the primary production of raw materials for clothing or food. Vehicles must be registered in your name and must be used solely in connection to your business as a primary producer. This concession can be applied to more than 1 vehicle.
Eligible vehicles for this concession are:
- prime movers or trucks with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 6t or more
- trailers with an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) over 4.5t.
Australian Dam Desilting Rebate
Australian dam desilting rebate for livestock producers.
The Dam Desilting Rebate provides a rebate of up to 25 per cent of the cost of a private contractor to desilt your dam on your drought-declared property up to a maximum of amount of $25,000 per Property Identification Code (PIC), per financial year. Your dam must be primarily used for livestock. More information regarding the rebate including qualifying and applying can be found in the guidelines.
The Dam Desilting Rebate is funded by the Australian Government and is administered by the Queensland Government (in Queensland only).
It is recommended that you obtain an endorsed Dam Desilting Statement before paying for dam desilting. The statement provides assurance that the proposed desilting activity can be considered for the rebate and is within the typical range of costs for dam desilting. Drought Relief from Electricity Charges Scheme
The Drought Relief from Electricity Charges Scheme (DRECS) provides relief from supply charges on electricity accounts that are used to pump water for farm or irrigation purposes.
Financial assistance is available to account holders who do not have access to, or have severely restricted access to, farm or irrigation water in drought-declared areas, or properties that have been individually drought-declared.
